Campbell Midgley
Queen City Ballet Artistic Director
Former professional dancer with Houston Ballet,Campbell Midgley has served as Artistic Director of Queen City Ballet for the past 10 years. Her works have graced Helena stages with the famous full-length classical productions such as The Nutcracker with the Helena Symphony,Swan Lake,Sleeping Beauty,Cinderella,and Alice in Wonderland. She also produces annual Contemporary Concerts choreographed by commissioned guest arts such as In Motion with Robert Harrision,Beatles,Madonna:Black &White,Best of ABBA
A merit scholarship graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts,Ms. Midgley joined the Houston Ballet under the direction of Ben Stevenson,performing numerous roles in Sleeping Beauty,Les Sylphides,La Sylphide,Cinderella,and Peer Gynt,as well as the lead role of “Clara” in The Nutcracker.
Following her career as a ballet dancer,Ms. Midgley earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance performance in addition to a degree in communications from Southern Methodist University in Dallas,Texas. In 2005,Ms. Midgley served as guest instructor with the Shanghai Ballet in China and in 2006 was awarded the Teacher of Excellence Award by The American Dance Arts Institute of Education for the quality of training her students exhibited at American Ballet Competition in Miami,Florida. Her students have gone on the dance professionally with Boston Ballet,Ballet Austin,Ballet West,Alberta Ballet,Atlanta Ballet,Richmond Ballet and Nevada Ballet and are accepted to prestigious summer programs such as The School of American Ballet,American Ballet Theater,Julliard,The Joffery Ballet,Houston Ballet,Pacific Northwest Ballet,San Francisco Ballet,Alonso Kings LINES,Royal Winnipeg Ballet,Ballet Austin,Atlanta Ballet,Ballet Chicago,Kansas City Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet.
Her students continue to be awarded at International Ballet competitions including Youth America Grand Prix and American Ballet Competition,and receive cash and merit scholarships. She is dedicated to education and outreach. Queen City Ballet students annually perform for the Helena Education Foundation,Holter Museum Kidsworks,Exploration Works events and in Helena area Elementary Schools.
