Madeline Miller

Madeline Miller was awarded the Queen City Ballet Excellence Award for 2011.

Madeline just finished middle school at CR Anderson, and was awarded the medal for having a 4.0 for the entire three years of middle school, which included three years of advanced math. She will be a freshman at Capitol this fall. She has one sister,Allison, who will be an eighth grader at CR Anderson. Madeline primarily enjoys dancing, but she also enjoys reading and traveling. Her favorite books are the Harry Potter series and the Hunger Game series, and she reads pretty much everything she can get her hands on. She really enjoys trying different kinds of foods, and loves sushi, tea and spicy cuisines. Her favorite dessert is the Earl Gray Chocolate Cake from Park Avenue Bakery. That is a good thing since her parents and sister love it,too. Madeline’s father stated that she has a really insightful and dry sense of humor. This doesn’t really come out in the dance studio because when she’s in the studio she is all business. She will be attending a summer ballet intensive at the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton,Florida.

Campbell Midgely,Artistic Director, said about this about the dancer:“Madeline’s unparalleled drive and pursuit of her goals to be a professional dancer is an inspiration to all.  She is a powerful dancer and fearless is her approach to her work. She received the excellence award for her outstanding ability to step in and perform the role of Autumn Fairy flawlessly in an emergency situation when a dancer was injured. She learned the solo 45 min before the performance and learned the fairy finale with the rest of the cast in 15 min. before the show and handled it all with the maturity of a seasoned professional dancer.   Not only did she save the show, she saved her fellow dancer from further injuring herself and proved that she can handle any situation with grace.”
